Château d’Angers: impregnable fortress

The iconic Château d’Angers can be found in the town centre, and located near the hotel. Built during the XIII century by Blanche de Castille, regent and mother of Saint-Louis, the impregnable fortress with seventeen towers affirms its purpose as a deterrent. A masterpiece of medieval art, this architectural ensemble retraces the history of the Dukes of Anjou and is an important testament to France’s history. The royal enclosure houses incredible gardens as well as the Apocalypse Tapestry. This exceptionally large, world-renowned tapestry depicts the story of Saint John the Divine from the Book of Revelation. Don’t hesitate to walk along the chateau’s drawbridge and trace the footsteps of a king.
